Louis Ouimet – Photographer
Louis is an emerging photographer from Edmonton Alberta, Canada. He got his first camera at an early age and has had a lifelong love of taking photos. He got some experience with developing film and prints in junior high school and talked his Dad into setting up a darkroom in the basement.
Though earning a living and raising a family kept photography at the hobby level he never lost the enjoyment of taking images. The digital age really brought excitement and passion back into his photography with the ability to endlessly experiment with new techniques and different subjects.
Over the last few years he has won several awards and is published internationally as well as locally. Louis mostly concentrates on landscape and travel photography and is always striving to get better.
Laura Ouimet – Award Winning Wire Artist/Educator
Her fun and whimsical wire art creations are often inspired by a deep connection to nature. Her joy is to see how her Art unfolds, and takes on a life of its own. Her aim is always to create Art that delights and makes people smile!
As an Art Educator, Laura loves sharing the cool science behind wire and its inherent behaviour. She teaches locally and abroad and has had students come from as far away as Madrid, Spain to learn from her. While much of her wire Art is straightforward in design, its the less conventional techniques and materials that she enjoys working with the most. Her favourite medium to sculpt with is the very humble medium of Chicken wire. Laura uses a lot of recycled metal alloys in her Earth Friendly art, saving the cast off material from going to the landfill.
Laura has art in public and private collections in 12 countries, across Canada and the US.
